Kelvin Grove Parks and Playgrounds Within Walking Distance of the Apartments

The Brisbane City Council does a pretty good job of keeping our suburbs green. Around our apartment in Kelvin Grove you find a number of parks and playgrounds suitable for all ages.

Below I have listed them all with photos and my tips about when the best time to visit them is (hint: some are better at night – trust me!)

Bancroft Park

  • Address: 360 Kelvin Grove Road

This park has barbecue (electric), bikeway, cricket field, dog off-leash area, picnic area/shelter, playground, water (bubbler).

Billy Mater Reserve (previously known as Prospect Terrace Park)

  • Address: 57 Prospect Terrace

Bus station, seating

Bishop Street Park

  • Address: 66 Bishop Street

Chauvel Place Park

  • Address: 25 Gona Parade

Seating

E. E. McCaskie Oval 

  • Address: 137 Kelvin Grove Road

This is a great little park. It has an activity space, barbecue (wood & electric), bike storage station (McCaskie Park Promenade), bus station (Kelvin Grove), outdoor fitness/exercise station, picnic area/shelter (Kelvin Grove Road), playground, public toilets, table tennis tables, water (drinking fountain).

You’ll also want to visit this park at night for some Insta worthy pics of the tree!

Grey Gums Park

Barbecue (electric), outdoor fitness/exercise station, picnic area/shelter, playground, shared pathway, water (bubbler – wheelchair accessible)

Kelvin Grove Reserve

  • Address: 52 L’Estrange Terrace

Kundu Park

  • Address: 48 Blamey Street

Barbecue (electric), picnic area/shelter, water (bubbler/drinking fountain). This is where we take our compost as they have public compost bins. You’ll also find a community garden here.

Maidstone Street Park & Kulgun Park

  • Address: 9 Maidstone Street

This is the part of the park closet to Victoria Park Rd. There is a barbecue (electric), picnic area/shelter, water (drinking fountain).

Marshall Park 

  • Address: 140A Kelvin Grove Road

Musk Avenue Park & Kulgun Park

  • Address: 33 Musk Avenue

This is the part of the park closest to Musk Ave. There is seating and a large rock artwork.

Parer Place Park

  • Address: 3 Gona Parade

This is where La Boite theatre and QUT Kelvin Grove Art Plaza is. There is seating around the plaza and the theatre has a bar/coffee shop. I’ve added more details about local coffee shops in my Best Places to Eat in Kelvin Grove article.

Picot Street Park

  • Address: 72 Picot Street

Playground, restoration site (Kelvin Grove Bushcare Group), shared pathway, water (bubbler/tap)

Victoria Park / Barrambin

  • Address: 72 Victoria Park Road
  • Access and car parking is available onsite via the entrance at Herston Road. On-street parking is also available along Herston Road, Gilchrist Avenue, Victoria Park Road and Gregory Terrace
  • Barbecues (electric and gas)
  • Centenary Pool
  • Drinking fountain. Wheelchair accessible drinking fountain available at Gregory Terrace playground
  • Dog off-leash area including area for small dogs
  • Gundoo Memorial Grove
  • Nature wellness trails
  • Outdoor fitness/exercise trail
